Taniel “TK” Koushakjian is a Palm Beach County native, public affairs executive, small business owner, and candidate for the Port of Palm Beach Commission. Raised in Palm Beach County, TK attended local public schools before becoming the first person in his family to graduate from college in the United States, earning his degree in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University. He later earned a Master’s degree in Political Management from The George Washington University.
TK’s story is rooted in hard work, perseverance, and a deep belief in public service. Coming from a family that worked hard to build a better future in America, he understands the value of opportunity and the importance of creating pathways to success for the next generation. Those values have guided both his professional career and his commitment to the community he has always called home.

Over the past 16 years, TK has built a career working at the intersection of government, infrastructure, technology, economic development, and public policy. He is the CEO and Founder of BreakThru Strategies, a boutique government relations and strategic communications firm. He has also served in senior leadership positions at some of Florida’s largest public agencies, including as Chief Public Information Officer for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and Chief Communications & Public Policy Officer for the South Florida Water Management District.

He throughout his career, TK has worked to bring people together, solve complex problems, and advocate for policies that strengthen local communities and create economic opportunity. He has successfully worked with local, state, and federal leaders on issues ranging from infrastructure and technology to environmental resilience and economic development.

A longtime supporter of Palm Beach County nonprofit organizations and civic institutions, TK has volunteered his time with organizations including the Palm Beach Symphony, 211 Helpline Palm Beach/Treasure Coast, Family Promise of Southeast Florida, and Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope.

Today, TK lives in the north end of West Palm Beach with his wife and their two children, just over two miles from the Port of Palm Beach. He is running for the Port of Palm Beach Commission to bring transparent, accountable leadership to the port, strengthen the local economy, and ensure the port continues creating jobs and opportunity for Palm Beach County families.
